In case you haven’t tried vegan sushi so far, I encourage you to offer it a swirl! This became my first time making it and it was completely fulfilling. This highly spicy tuna is healthy, delicious, and cooked. Rolling vegan rolls with no experience and no rugs can seem daunting, but don't worry, not expensive friends, it's best to have a plastic wrap and a kitchen towel to get compact, great restaurant rolls in the comfort of your personal kitchen.
This is where spicy tomato tuna is available. With the right spices, tomato meat tastes great like fish. In fact, the day after I made those vegan pastries drier, I stayed in the fridge. The flavors melted the way it does overnight, and the spicy tomato tuna tasted like real fish, I didn’t want to eat it.
ingredients
- 2 large roma tomatoes
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce or gluten free tamari
- 1/2 tablespoon of algae powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 tablespoon of sriracha
- 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil
- 3 crazy leaves
- 1/2 small cucumber
- 1/2 avocado
Sushi Rice
- 1 cup of sushi rice
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
instructions
- Combine sushi rice and water in a rice cooker and cook. When the rice is done, mix the rice vinegar, salt and sugar. Mix the rice with a fork just a little to ensure it is sticky.
- While the rice is cooking, bring a small pot of water to boil. Prepare a large bowl of ice water. Pierce the tomatoes with a knife, then drop them in water. Cook the tomatoes until the skin begins to peel, then remove them with a spoon. Immediately transfer the tomatoes to ice water to prevent them from cooking further.
- In a lid container, mix soy sauce or tamari with ginger, algae powder, sorghum and sesame oil. Stir until even. Peel the tomatoes and separate the meat from the water seeds. Cut the tomato meat into smaller pieces and transfer it to your marinade bowl. Put the lid on and shake it so the tomato pieces are lined.
- Cut the cucumber and avocado into thin sticks, then prepare your sushi station. Lay a kitchen towel with a sheet of plastic wrap on the top or a cutting board.
- Put a crazy sheet on the plastic wrap. With wet fingers, spread a very thin, even layer of sushi rice. Leave an inch or so of space on both ends of the sheet to wrap it.
- Place a layer of your spicy tomato sauce on the rice, with a few sticks of cucumber and avocado. The toppings should cover only 2 inches of rice or you will have trouble rolling.
- Carefully peel the edge of the sushi roller with your fingers. Move the edge up and over. As soon as the vegetables are covered, transfer it over a plastic wrap and then a towel, using it to shape and compress the sushi rolls. Continue until it is completely twisted. Be sure to glue the edges. Cut a roll of sushi with a sharp knife and enjoy!
