Just as easy to prepare as Hamburger Helper and you can control the ingredients. Great weekday meal and the kids love it!
ingredients
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
- 16 oz 93% lean ground beef
- 2 cups shredded low-fat cheddar cheese
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon basil
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat the oven to 350 * F.
- Cook the macaroni according to the packaging and drain.
- In a frying pan, sauté the onions and peppers until they are tender.
- Remove and reserve.
- Hamburger and drain.
- Add onions, peppers, meat, tomatoes, oregano, basil, cumin, salt and pepper. Mix together.
- Add the mixture to the macaroni and pour into a baking dish coated with cooking spray.
- Heat in the oven for 5 minutes.
- Add the cheese on top and cook until the cheese melts and the dish boils.
- Let stand about 5 minutes before cutting.
