  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender and mashed potatoes until smooth. Top with additional whipped topping, caramel syrup and maraschin cherry. Serve immediately.

For the purpose of calculating nutrition information, I used my favorite protein powder is IdealLean Cake batterYou can replace it with a similar protein powder with vanilla flavor or cake dough, but the nutritional characteristics will change. As an alternative, I also like Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder in this recipe. Nutrition information does not include optional fillings.

You can find caramel flavor in the baking aisle at many grocery stores (near the vanilla extract).

COOK TIPS AND RECIPTION VARIATIONS:

  • I love to use frozen pineapple for two main reasons: (1) it is kept fresh for several months in the freezer, so you don’t need to worry about the pineapple spoiling in your refrigerator before you can enjoy it; and (2) frozen fruits give the cocktail a thick, rich creamy texture that you don’t get from fresh fruits.

  • Mix in healthy mixed to enhance nutrition. For example, I often add a little spinach, frozen chopped banana, flax, oatmeal, peanut butter, or almond butter to give my breakfast a healthy dose of fruits, vegetables, and fats (without affecting the smoothie's taste).

  • If you are preparing this healthy smoothie for children, you can lower protein powder and replace greek yogurtSince the protein powder gives the smoothie not only its density but also its taste, you can use sweetened vanilla Greek yogurt or plain Greek yogurt and add your own sweetener to taste. Taste and texture yogurt smoothie recipe will not be the same as the version with protein powder, but your family will still like it!

  • Keep low sugar protein shake using unsweetened vanilla almond milk and sugar-free protein powder.

  • I prefer whey protein for flavor and density in this smoothie, but if you prefer vegetable breakfastYou can replace vegan protein powder.
